Garage Door Troubleshooting, Adjustment & Repairs
The movement of your overhead door is possible thanks to the spring mechanism. It is the main driving force and not the opener. If you have garage door extension springs, you should know that they are part of a whole system. They are stretched above the horizontal tracks and connected to pulleys. The lift cables are connected to the pulleys on one side and to the bottom of the door on the other. During door opening, the springs contract and apply force to the pulleys enabling the lifting of the cables and the entire unit. There is a safety cable running through each spring. A durable and reliable spring system has all of its components made from galvanized steel. The zinc coating of this metal protects it from corrosion. Ideally, the steel should be thick and strong. Our garage door company services all extension springs without exception.
